Chief Ombudsman’s term extended for five years

Issue date:

Parliament has agreed to extend Peter Boshier’s appointment  as Chief Ombudsman for another five years.

In the Chamber, the Leader of the House, Chris Hipkins highlighted Mr Boshier’s efforts to resolve complaints in a timely way.

“I think that as a result of that compliance with the Official Information Act across Government has improved significantly, and that is a very, very welcome development.”

The Chief Ombudsman is pleased that the Office’s contribution has been recognised in this way and feels honoured to be able to continue working to achieve fairness for all New Zealanders.
