New guide on proactive release

Issue date:

One of the purposes of the Official Information Act (OIA) is to make official information increasingly available to the NZ public.

Agencies can do this by putting in place policies and processes for the proactive release of official information.

That’s when agencies publish official information—usually on the internet—without being asked for it.

Our new guide pulls together the Ombudsman’s previous guidance on proactive release.

It’s a work in progress, so if you have any questions or feedback let us know.

Read the new guide here.
